Robots Knitting Cupcakes

On Saturday at 6am, River jumped out of the bed and started barking at the back door. I sleepily pulled myself out of bed, trudged over to her, connected her leash to her collar, and opened the door. I didn’t realize there was a raccoon in the backyard. The raccoon took off, River went running after it, and River’s leash somehow deeply cut the fingers on my hand.

Imagine trying to cut your hand with a leash by rubbing the edge of said leash across your hand really fast. That’s what happened, except in the creases of my knuckles.

One hospital visit and several hours later, I was at Magnolia, eating Love Migas and enjoying a mocha and lots of Advil.

On the upside, I easily make the Vulcan hand sign.

“Severe leash burn” is the silliest injury I’ve ever had. It’s also the most inconvenient, since it’s my dominant hand. Writing is difficult, typing is awkward (but I can obviously manage), and I can’t garden, build, sew, or knit at all. It’s driving me crazy because I have a stash of cacti, succulents, and flowers to plant, I’m in the middle of knitting a shrug, and there are several things I want to be sewing.

Yesterday I was bored, so I started browsing Ravelry. Terrible idea. I found so many more things I’d love to knit! These felted bowls are beautiful, and I already have lots of wool in my stash. I love the idea of knit beer cozies. I found this beautiful shirt, the Lazear, that I can’t wait to start. This shawl, the Wisp, would be perfect for summer. And I’d love to knit up a few of these Ilene Bags for groceries and farmers markets.

Blah. I guess I’ll just have to wait for my fingers to heal some more. In the meantime, I’ll just add more to my project list.
